Pianist/composer Cedric Hanriot is a relatively latecomer to the world of music, after earning his Master’s Degree in Electronics & Digital Audio Processing at age 21, Cedric’s life took and unexpected turn as he sat at the piano for the first time. From this point on, he has devoted his life to music, surrendering to his love for music and jazz. Since then Cedric has collaborated with the likes of Dee Dee Bridgewater, Joe Lovano, Meshell Ndegeocello and Cindy Blackman, and has won such prestigious awards as a French-American Fulbright grant to Berklee College of Music, the International Jazz Soloist Contests in Monaco, at the Enghien les Bains Festival and at the Jazz at St Germain Festival.
His innovative « French Stories » project features Cedric’s originals alongside well known French songs from artists like Jacques Brel, Serge Gainsbourg, or Edith Piaf. Cedric has taken these songs and turned them into contemporary styles such as Jazz, Hip-Hop, Afro and World Music. With the worldwide release of « French Stories » in 2011 on the Plus Loin disc label/Distribution Harmonia Mundi, Cedric is performing in a trio format of Piano/Fender Rhodes/Laptop/Melodica/Speaking voice, Bass/Upright bass, and Drums/Vocals.
